What the theory of the Atonement propagated by the
present day scholars is that- a man however righteous, cannot be free from sin,
as he is begotten of Adam, who sinned, and whose sin is being transmitted
hereditary. Therefore in the Old Testament people used to give the sacrifices
so as to clean from original sin along with their sinful deeds. So the blood
which was shed by the sacrifices of animals had been once as the only solution
for the remission of the sins and there would be no other solution rather than
the blood. However, the world did not have purified completely that is why the
merciful God had sent his son Jesus in this word for the ultimate great
sacrifice on behalf of the daily sacrifices for the every sin. Thus Jesus has
come in the appointed time for the Vicarious Atonement to purify the entire
word by offering himself the ultimate sacrifice and shedding his blood on the
cross which is known as doctrine of Atonement.
In this regard first and foremost we have to examine
that whether the Old Testament agrees to the propagation of the present day’s
pastors that the blood which shed by the sacrifices of animals had been the
only solution for every sin and for what purpose the then people had offered
the sacrifices of animals and for what type of sins God had given the
commandment to offer the animals. So before going in the further first let us
see what solutions had been given by God to attain the everlasting life in the
Old Testament in the following verses of the Bible.
ONE WHO DOES GOOD LEAVING EVIL DEEDS ONE’S ALL SINS
WILL BE PARDONED?
If My people who are called by My name will
humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.-
2 Chronicles 7:14
"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your
doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek
justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the
widow. "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord,
"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though
they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. – Isaiah 1:16-18
Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed,
and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. Because he
considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he
shall surely live; he shall not die. – Ezekiel 18:27, 28
ONE WHO POSSESSES THE MERCY AND TRUTH ATONEMENT
PROVIDED FOR ONE’S INIQUITY!
In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for
iniquity; and by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. – Proverbs 16:6
He who follows righteousness and mercy finds
life, righteousness and . – Proverbs 21:21
ONE WHO FOLLOWS THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD ONE’S ALL SINS
WILL BE PARDONED!
Who has withdrawn his hand from the poor and
not received usury or increase, but has executed my judgments And walked in my
statutes-- He shall not die for the iniquity of his father; He shall surely
live! - Ezekiel 18:17
"But if a wicked man turns from all his
sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and
right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. – Ezekiel 18:21
ONE WHO TURNS TO THE GOD FOR PRAYING ONE’S ALL SINS
WILL BE PARDONED!
O Israel, return to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of
your iniquity; Take words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him,
"Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, for we will offer the
sacrifices of our lips. – Hosea 14:1-2
Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of
your mercy, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until
now." Then the Lord said: "I have pardoned, according to your
word. – Numbers 14:19, 20
Let the wicked forsake his way, And the
unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have
mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. – Isaiah 55:7
ONE WHO REPENTS BY CONFESSING ALL SINS BEFORE GOD
ONE’S ALL SINS WILL BE PARDONED!
So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned
against the Lord." And Nathan said to David, "The Lord also has put
away your sin; you shall not die. –
2 Samuel 12:13
I acknowledged my sin to you, and my iniquity
I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the
Lord," And you forgave the iniquity of my sin. – Psalm 32:5
According to the all above verses we came to know that
in the Old Testament the blood which had been shed by the sacrifices of animals
had not been as a ultimate solution for the remission of sins but for the
remission of sins God has shown so many easy ways such as 1. Doing good leaving
evil deeds 2. Possessing of the mercy and truth 3. Following the commandments
of God 4. Praying God 5. Repenting by confessing all sins etc., these ways in
fact create the great moral values in the society also. But contrary to this
now a day’s preaches not propagating the above instruction of the Bible moral
values are degrading the Christianity rather than the other communities and the
disunity is take the deep roots Christianity resulting in it is being divided
in to innumerable denomination.
HAD THE SACRIFICES OF ANIMALS IN OLD TESTAMENT HAD
BEEN OFFERED FOR THE ORIGINAL SIN OR EVERLASTING LIFE OR FOR THOSE SINS WHICH
HAVE BEEN COMMITTED DELIBERATELY ANY WHERE?
We cannot find anywhere in the Bible the sacrifices of
animals which have been offered in the Old Testament for the purpose of
original sin or everlasting life or for those type of sins which have been
committed intentionally like murders, rapes, prostitution etc., but for what
purpose they had offered the animals as a token of sacrifice?
ANIMALS HAD BEEN OFFERED ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF
REMISSION OF THOSE SINS COMMITTED BY MISTAKE UNINTENTIONALLY!
Now lord spoke to Moses, saying, “speaking to the
children of Israel, saying “If a person sins unintentionally against any of the
commandments of the Lord in anything which out not to be done, and does any of
them, if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, then let him
offer to the Lord for his sin which he has sinned a young bull without blemish
as a sin offering. – Leviticus 4:1-3
Now if the whole congregation of Israel sins
unintentionally, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and
they have done something against any of the commandments of the Lord in
anything which should not be done, and are guilty; when the sin which they have
committed becomes known, then the assembly shall offer a young bull for the
sin… - Leviticus 4:13,14
When a ruler has sinned, and done something
unintentionally against any of the commandments of the Lord his God in anything
which should not be done, and is guilty or if his which he has committed comes
to his knowledge, he shall bring as his offering a kid of the goats, a male
without blemish. – Leviticus 4:22, 23
Thus we find in Old Testament to have given the
offerings of animals for the purpose of coming such type of sins as committed
unintentionally but not to those type of sins committed intentionally. If this
be the truth of the sacrifices offered in the Old Testament then how it can be
reasonable to say that Jesus has been offered his life on cross as a ransom on
behalf of the so many sacrifices offered in the Old Testament?
